May 2008 KATHAK VISTAR
Our first project was to create music for Classical Indian Kathak Dancer Abhay Shankar which was performed at the Arts Depot and Watermans Arts Centre London. Baluji used his knowledge of dance , theatre and Classical music to create and perform the music making it one with the dance.
Kathak Vistaar involves spreading and stretching the boundary of North Indian classical
dance. It is performed as a solo, a duet and ensemble.It's vibrancy and vitality
brings Indian dance to a much wider audience in the UK.
It also passes on the traditions of Kathak Vistaar dance to an upcoming generation. Abhay Shankar Mishra has an extraordinary style which enlightens the Kathak art and pushes the performances to the highest levels.
The variety, novelty and creativity of the dance sequences make the show an incredible
